Freedom From Fracking Conference

‘Freedom From Fracking: Building Strategies Together’
Thursday Sept. 8, 2011, 8:30 AM – 5PM (Registration Required)

Congregation Rodeph Shalom, 615 N. Broad St. Philadelphia, PA 19123
This one-day conference at the comfortable, beautiful Rodeph Shalom, conveniently located in Center City Philadelphia, is held the day after the big “Shale Gas Outrage” rally to stop dirty drilling.
Join organizers from all over the state and region to network, learn, teach, and strategize.
This conference will strengthen and focus the movement for a Pennsylvania moratorium on shale gas drilling.
We will build bridges between rural, urban, and suburban organizers; between upstream and downstream communities.  Together, we will provide support and connections for people directly impacted by shale gas extraction.
We encourage solidarity between diverse groups focused on different outcomes, whether their goals are life-saving regulation, agency-specific strategies, a ban, or a moratorium on fracking. We believe that multiple, concurrent, and coherent tactics in protecting air, water, earth, and human health must be pursued to slow and stop this rich, powerful, poisoning industry.
The conference program includes empowering issues-based education and skill-building workshops.
Please register and pay online at https://shalegasoutrage.org/schedule/conference/ . Registration is capped at 200 participants, so registrations will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis.
This “Freedom from Fracking” conference is part of our two-day “Shale Gas Outrage” initiative in Philadelphia.
“Shale Gas Outrage” is the region’s grassroots response to the industry’s national conference at the Pennsylvania Convention Center on September 7th and 8th. The centerpiece event of Shale Gas Outrage is the major public rally and demonstration outside the Convention Center at noon on Wednesday, September 7th. For more information check shalegasoutrage.org
We look forward to seeing you at the conference and working together to defend our communities, reclaim our democracy, and stop dirty gas drilling!
